Bad News for Godspeed

All you fans of Godspeed You! Black Emperor are most likely aware that the band have been on an oft-quoted “indefinite hiatus” since 2002’s “Yanqui UXO.” A recent interview with Godspeed’s Efrim Menuck will do little to assuage the frustrations of his fans. Without completely writing off the possibility of a reuinion, Menuck effectively stated that his involvement was over, citing complicated backstories and band shelf-life as reasons for leaving Godspeed You! Black Emperor in the past.

The good news, however, is that one of Menuck’s side projects with two of his Godspeed bandmates is about to release a new CD. While the true name of the project is Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band, it is usually shortened to a more reasonable - but still over the top -A Silver Mt. Zion. The new album reportedly consists of four tracks that frequenters of the band’s live performances may already be familiar with.

“13 Blues for Thirteen Moons” is scheduled for release on March 10th from Constellation Records.
